- These data come from Data Release 16 of the Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS webpage for details).
- Brighter galaxies are selected based on filter: u < 22.0, g < 22.2, r < 22.2, i < 21.3, z < 20.5
- Light from distant galaxies stretches as the light travels to us across the expanding Universe.
- Nearby galaxies have small reshifts. Distant galaxies have large redshifts.
- The slider on the left controls the redshifts displayed.
